COPY OF EMAIL Friday, February 3, 2023 5:22:28 PM

To all Scouts and parents.

Dates of Scout Troop sessions

1. There will be no meeting on Friday 10th February - schools mid-term holiday.

2. There will be no meeting on Friday 24th February - I am unavailable that night.

3. There will be no meetings on Fridays 31st March, 7th and 14th April - schools Easter holiday.

4. Meetings will resume on Friday21st April.

Assistance from Parent(s)

I would like assistance from parent(s) on the following Fridays in order to ensure a suitable adult presence. Ideally we would like two parents on these nights. March: (17th), 24th April: 21st, 28th

Annual Scout Census Forms

I have just completed the annual scout census forms for all sections in the Group. This means that we pay to the Scout Association the sum of £38.25 per Scout simply to remain members of the Scout Association.

The section subscriptions cover this and any expenses in running the week to week meetings.

To be fair to parents when planning family summer activities and avoid doubt, it will not be possible this year to have a major summer activity nor indeed a camp in May as we do not have enough leaders to comply with the Scout rules for such activities. While we are trying to set up and formalise a social media platform, in the hope that we can attract back former Scouts who would like to take on a leader's position, I would still be grateful if any parents know of any such person who would be willing to take on this responsibility of being a leader in the Group, especially in the  Scout Troop and Cub Pack.

Scout parents' committee

We also need parents who are willing to be part of a parents' committee attached to the Group Executive, and responsible for fundraising and generally keeping the Group in a stable state financially and for repairs and maintenance to our halls. We are having a meeting on Sunday evening (Sunday 5th February) of this committee, if parents would like to come along and find put how to get involved in principally the Fall Fair but also other day to day matters re the halls. We need parental help in all these different ways to ensure the long-term future of the Group.

If you know of any Scout family who is not getting these emails, please let me know as I have found that I had the wrong contact details for several Scouts!

Thank you,

Robert (Robert Wright, Group Scout Leader) robertwright981@btinternet.com

Further details will be issued regarding meetings in May and June as there are bank holidays, including that for the Coronation of King Charles III.
